Robot Challenge

Friday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM (Show and Tell for Parents at 11:00 AM)

This class is designed for students that have had previous coding experience. Advanced Robotics uses the VEX robotics platform and Robot C (syntax) programming language. This class offers a step up from drag and drop, block coding and introduces students to the world of syntax coding. Students will learn some basic mechanical engineering concepts and build and program several autonomous robot projects including a four wheel drive vehicle and drag race car.

In this Fun, Artsy, and Challenging class:
  • Students will design their own vehicle and decorate it any way they want.
  • Students will continue to learn/hone their mechanical engineering skills while using vex building parts (metal, nuts, screws, and gears. (Various gearing systems) to build various autonomous robots.
  • Students will learn about gearing ratios and the difference between creating a gearing system with more torque or more speed. They will make a fun spinning sign to see the output of various settings.
  • Students will learn syntax coding using the Robot C programming language
